  Putrid Tomb is a death metal band hailing from Southern California. They are back at it again with their brand new self-titled EP. Showcasing a much more refined and technical sound, but not lacking in the brutality, Putrid Tomb’s new EP is a blistering offering of bludgeoning riffs, breakneck blasting, and ultra low vocals. For fans of Suffocation, Disgorge, and Deeds of Flesh, Putrid Tomb defies the common trend. Here are no caveman riffs.
  
  Desert Wastelands is proud to release this EP on both cassette tape and compact disc formats. Putrid Tomb is set to release on September 22nd, 2021, year of our abomination.
  
  Here is what the band has to say about this release
  
  “Shortly after the release of our first demo, I found myself without a lineup. I was able to get connected with a few players I knew through social media. The first couple songs we wrote continued in the style of the demo, with downpaced doom riffs and some slower chord based parts. There were songs being written, but something about them didn't quite click. It was one day that Marc and I decided to scrap the songs and start fresh. We loved the sound of downbeat old school death doom, but we were looking for something faster and more technical. We were obsessing over a lot of bands like Suffocation, Incantation, and early Gorguts. We were fascinated with the technical riffing and blast beats. It was on that day we wrote our first song for the EP titled "The Reanimator". The song marked a big departure from the early sound as it consisted of mostly high tempo blast parts and a lot of string skipping, and frankly it did not sound much like Autopsy, the band I so heavily worshipped for the demo material. While I still loved death doom, the new sound clicked very well. We had Manny Rosas on guitar for a while, and he also contributed a couple riffs for the songs. Upon completion, we had made contact with the sound engineer Ethan Camp who just by chance was living in San Diego at the time. We were fans of his work and he agreed to engineer the EP. The months before entering the studio was a lot of preparation. We were a two piece band and I was handling bass duties which was not my main instrument. This process was also happening in the middle of the pandemic and some of these songs were never even rehearsed together. In February we entered Big Fish studios. It was one of my first experiences in a real studio and it was magical. While a bit nerve racking, we managed to record the entire EP in 2 with Ethan Camp on the mixing board. When we finished tracking, Ethan played the recording back and Marc and I knew that everything we had wanted to achieve for this release had come true: The energy, the speed, the technicality, it was all there. Our second release had been born.
